♫ music playing ♫ In order to determine the appropriate back brace size, measure the circumference of the patient's waist, 2 inches above the largest part. Once you've obtained that measurement, remove the back brace from the bag. Open up the back brace and turn it over to show the tape measure on either side of the back brace. Unvelcro the side of the back brace, and using the point of the flap, line it up and accurately measure to the same measurement of the patient. Repeat for each side. Make sure the BOA tensioning reels are fully extended. Once they are fully extended, press them until they audibly click to lock them in place. Have the patient place their right hand in the donning mitt. Hold the brace at waist level, line up the middle of the brace with the spine, centering it with the tensioning wire. Working around the body, place the abdominal pad with the EXOS label facing outward and up, and position the brace at a slight angle to mimic the curve of a woman's hip. Finish applying both sides of the brace over the abdominal pad and Velcro closed. Then tighten the BOA tensioning reels. The right reel will tension the bottom of the brace, and the left reel will tighten the top of the brace. Tighten the reels till snug and comfortable. When ready to remove the back brace, release the tensioning reels and remove the brace, pulling from the abdominal mitt.
