Knee Immobilizer Remove the knee immobilizer from the packaging and un-Velcro all of the straps. Open the brace so it is flat and open. Extend the brace on the table, noting the center line on the brace. Lift the patient's leg up and slide the brace underneath their leg, centering the posterior stay behind their leg. Close the Velcro on the knee immobilizer. There is a malleable metal strut that can be removed and adjusted to be shaped to the patient's leg. Reapply the Velcro straps, snug to fit. Examine the brace and make sure everything is in the appropriate place. Ask the patient if there is anything that is irritating from the brace.
