Ankle Brace Air Stirrup. Remove the brace from the packaging and loosen the Velcro straps. Looking at the bottom foot plate and at the patient's foot, determine if it needs to be extended and adjust the width of the brace by pulling down. Have the patient place their foot on your knee and apply the brace medial and lateral to the patient's ankle. Have the Velcro straps snug to fit, trimming any excess strap with scissors. Examine the brace to make sure it is fitting adequately. Have the patient put their shoe on with the ankle brace. Ask the patient to stand and ambulate, noting any discomfort, and adjust the brace if needed.
Video Summary
To use the Ankle Brace Air Stirrup, unpack it and loosen the Velcro straps. Determine necessary adjustments for width and extension by comparing the brace's foot plate to the patient's foot. Position the patient's foot on your knee and apply the brace on both sides of the ankle. Secure the Velcro straps, trimming any excess. Ensure the brace fits properly, then have the patient wear it with their shoe. Finally, ask the patient to stand and walk, checking for any discomfort and adjusting the brace as needed.
