“Stay on top of compliant coding for both open, percutaneous and arthroscopic related to trauma. During this session we will discuss common coding errors and ways to avoid them. We will also dive into medical necessity issues as well as prior authorization issues. Keep procedure coding accurate and up to date by learning the latest guidance.

  • Essential anatomy and the most typical orthopedic procedures and avoid confusion in code selection
  • Understand procedure coding for open and arthroscopic procedures, including coding for new types of devices and techniques as well as code selection when there isn’t a given CPT code available
  • Get the knack and key wording requirements when it comes to prior authorization issues as well as tips on how to appeal incorrect denials

Bio
With over 40 years’ experience in the Healthcare arena, in positions from nurse’s aide to ward clerk and medical transcriptionist to office manager, Margie understands how offices are structured. Twenty of those years were spent in the field of Orthopaedics. Margie is currently a member of AAOE, MGMA/ACMPE, AAPC, Society for Clinical Coding (SCC), PACHOM and AHIMA. She also is a member of NASS (North American Spine Society) and is a Board Member of Administrative Special Interest Group Committee. Margie stays current by attending the annual conventions for AAOE, MGMA and also the AMAs CPT symposium.
